Organization of the internship

Based on Article 15p. of the Act on the Profession of Physician and Dentist of December 5, 1996 and Certain Other Laws (unified text Journal of Laws of 1996, item 1516, as amended), the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice offers its graduates of medical and dental studies conducted in English the opportunity to implement a 6-month practical training that corresponds to the scope of the clinical part of the postgraduate internship program.

 INTERNSHIP REGULATIONS

The internship can be completed no later than 2 years from the day of obtaining a degree in Medicine or Dentistry.

After the recruitment for the internship ends, those qualified to participate will be informed by the Dean of the Faculty.

Those qualified for participation in the 6-month internship are obligated to:

• submit to the Dean’s Office a medical certificate, issued by a physician authorized to carry out routine medical checkups, which proves that there are no medical contradictions to complete the internship (before the internship starts),
• submit to the Dean’s Office the third party and personal accident insurance contract confirmation (which includes reimbursement of, among other things, documented costs of post-exposure prophylactic treatment) which covers the period of the internship,
• conclude an agreement on participation in the internship with the Medical University of Silesia – content of the agreement: file
• submit the confirmation of the payment according to the above-mentioned agreement.

After the Participant concludes the agreement and makes the payment, the referral to complete the internship will be issued and passed on, they will get a report card of the practical training and they will be informed about the start date and place of the internship.

After finishing the internship every Participant will get a certificate issued by the Coordinator confirming the completion of the internship in accordance with the program.

 Approval of the 6-month internship:

Based on Article 15p. paragraph 3 of the quoted Act, the Minister of Health in Poland approves, by a decision, the internship as completed upon written request of the graduate of medical or dentist studies submitted within 3 months after the last day of the internship.

To the application the graduate ads:

• certificate issued by a healthcare entity, where they completed the internship and documents that include information and data regarding:
• time and place of the internship,
• the person who completed the final exam of the internship (name, surname and function).
• diploma confirming graduation in Medicine or Dentistry or a certificate confirming the graduation from long-cycle Master’s degree in Medicine or Dentistry.

After they finish the internship, the participants can file a motion  to the Minister of Health to issue a decision declaring the internship as completed individually or through the Medical University of Silesia, that will collectively pass on the filed motions.

The graduates interested in sending the motion through the University are obligated to submit the mandatory documents directly to the Dean’s Office by the deadline indicated in the Dean’s announcement.
